In the 1800’s there was a growing sense of nationalism as Europe was under the control of emperors and kings. Unity became a value countries across Europe sought to achieve. This included Germany and Italy. Both countries had many issues to resolve though before they could achieve any type of unification.
Essay: Fascism in Germany and Italy. Germany and Italy rose up under new leaders with a new type of governing policy. However, the same policies that caused growth lead to eventual collapse of these nations. Fascism grew because of extreme nationalism, fear, and governmental control. It failed due to absolute power by one man, its own.
The Role of Nationalism in the Unification of Germany and Italy German and Italian unification leaders had very distinct methods for accomplishing a fundamentally alike goal. Both Countries liked to expel foreign forces, which provided them affray for the direct over each country.
With the revolution being successful, the French army started to expand the idea of nationalism into other European countries such as Holland, Switzerland, Belgium, wanting them to become nations instead of sates. During the 18th century, Europe had no nation-states; some countries were divided into kingdoms such as Germany and Italy.
